Detox update

Yeah! Today is Day 10.
So, this weekend involved a lot of will power since I could only eat apples, pears, broccoli, cauliflower, and greens. Plus, my son got a cold and I was up every night and I went to a brewer game and resisted tailgate food and vendors.
Today I get to bring foods back in and see if any foods cause a reaction.
Overall, I noticed clearer vision, an increase in energy towards the end of the 10 days, and I lost a few pounds.

If any of you are interested in learning about the detox or want to purchase the protein powder I used please contact the Family Clinic at 608-222-2700.

Bye bye for now!

Detox update

Today is day 3. I am doing well but, missing animal protein. Today was elimination of gluten and corn. Tomorrow is elimination of all grains, nuts, and seeds

I have gotten some feedback on detox dates, would Tuesday May 22 or Thursday May 24th at 6pm work? Or is a weekend preferred?

Family Clinic Detox

Today starts Day 1 of the detox.

I am doing this 10 day detox for a few reasons, first we should give our bodies a break from the chemicals we take in 1 – 2 times a year ( spring and fall are the best times), second we are doing it as a clinic and group to support and motive each other and lastly, I want to show others how easy and gentle a detox can be.  The benefits from a detox are endless. Many people experience  increase energy, weight loss,  better  skin,  improved digestion,  and an overall reduction of symptoms.

So, we are following Metagenics’ 10 day Metabolic Detox program.

Today = no meat, caffeine, processed food, and sugars. You are to eat basically a whole foods diet.  Tommorow we build on day 1 and also eliminate dairy and eggs.

So far so good.  Eating a whole foods diet is pretty typical for me.

If anyone is  interested in doing this detox diet, please let me know.  I was thinking of doing another talk on it in May.  I am open for dates/times.

Happy detoxing everyone! :)

Rebecca

Happy Holidays!

Here is an update on what I have been up to and what new obsessions I have…..

1. Go Wisconsin Sports! Happy to see the Badgers go to the Rose Bowl and hopefully the Packers to the Super Bowl (not so good yesterday :( )

2. Preparing for Gavin’s first Christmas and soon his Birthday. I can’t believe my little boy will be turning 1 in a few weeks.

3. Making soup. Every week I make a big pot of soup (mostly for Gavin because I can’t keep up with his intense appetite). I have been having so much fun just throwing things in the slow cooker. Last week, I used Pacific’s organic creamy butternut soup as a base and added spinach, lentils, peas, onions, and carrots. This week I plan on making a soup with tomatoes, chicken, chick peas, quinoa, and whatever I have in the refrigerator. It is so easy to make and very healthy. Soup is a great way to get a lot of nutrients. It is easy to digest and warms you up in the cold weather. You can really put whatever you want in the pot or slow cooker. If you want to keep it healthy avoid dairy and carbs like pasta or rice. Soup can be filling if you add ingredients with high protein such as beans, lentils, peas, or animal protein. Don’t forget the spices; garlic, ginger, turmeric, pepper, onions, and many others spices/herbs have anti-inflammatory properties. One of the biggest obstacles for weight loss is not having food prepared; soup can be your savior. Make soup on the weekend and freeze it for the rest of the week. Yum!

Please feel free to post your favorite soup recipe.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and I will see you in 2012!

Two obsessions in one!

This spring I purchased a Cuisinart food processor and LOVE it.  I love to slice and chop everything I possibly can.  I make hummus, bean dip, sauces and baby food.

Gavin, my favorite obsession of all,  loves food and I love making it for him.  Every week I go grocery shopping and find organic fruits and veggies that are on sale and cook and chop away.  I make sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, squash, cauliflower, peas, beans, lentils, zucchini, tomato, peaches, pears, raspberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, and many more. For the most part it is cheaper than buying organic baby food, but it does take time.  Making my own baby food makes me happy and I love it.

So, baby or no baby everyone should own a food processor. It is a great way to make healthy food.

This is my new obsession!
